Over €1 billion for transport in the European metropolis of Paris

The European metropolis of Paris is set to benefit from major investments in public transport, throughout the capital and its surrounding region. As part of this process, on June 23, the Ile-de-France region signed a contract with the French state for almost €1.3 billion worth of additional funding between 2010 and 2013 to improve the transport network across the region as a whole.

Europeans generally satisfied with train services but want more access to information

A Eurobarometer survey was conducted to examine EU rail passengers’ satisfaction with domestic rail services, including trains themselves, railway stations and the rail network in their country. The Eurobarometer identified, on the one hand, good points for rail passengers who, in general, feel safe and secure when travelling by rail or find it easy to purchase their tickets; and on the other hand shortcomings such as lack of information regarding passenger rights or delays.
